Alice Cary

Board of Directors

Alice K. Cary is a law enforcement executive with nearly 40 years of experience in public safety and leadership. Her lifelong connection with horses began in Michigan, where she started riding at age eight and became a horse owner at twelve. As a young adult, Alice spent countless hours trail riding throughout Michigan, including a memorable ride across the state from Lake Michigan to Lake Huron as a member of the Michigan Trail Riders Association. Alice later fulfilled a lifelong dream of living in the Mountain West, moving to Wyoming with her family and horses. There, she continued riding trails, hunting, and packing, and even became trained as a mounted patrol team, deepening her appreciation for the partnership between horses and people. Life circumstances led her to step away from horses for several years, but that passion never faded. After relocating to Silverthorne, Colorado in 2023 with her husband, Rich, to be closer to her son, his wife, and granddaughter, Alice reconnected with her love of horses through volunteering at Summit Valley Horse Center. She has since adopted two Mustangs, Chewy and Chet, and is committed to supporting the Center’s mission of horsemanship, community, and healing. Alice brings to the Board a deep respect for the human–horse connection, along with decades of experience in leadership, governance, and public service.
