Other ways to contribute

  • Appreciated Shares: If you hold appreciated publicly traded securities, consider gifting the shares directly to SVHC instead of selling them and donating the proceeds. If held for more than a year, this strategy helps you avoid capital gains taxes while providing a charitable deduction for their fair market value.
  • Retirement Account Withdrawals: Donating directly from your tax-deferred retirement accounts can maximize your impact. By contributing from these accounts, you avoid the taxes typically incurred on withdrawals, and reduce your adjusted gross income (AGI).
  • Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD): Those aged 72 and older are required to take annual distributions from your IRA. By donating all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) to SVHC, you lower your AGI, potentially reducing your tax bill while supporting the horses! Individuals can direct up to $105,000 per year, and couples filing jointly can give up to $210,000.
  • Name SVHC as a Beneficiary: Consider naming SVHC as a beneficiary of your IRA or retirement plan. This thoughtful legacy ensures your love for the outdoors arts continues to inspire future generations. Because SVHC is a tax-exempt organization, your full contribution will support our mission and programs.

Thank You

We are extremely grateful to the many individuals, non-profits, foundations, and corporations who have supported our mission. When you click on any of the options above, you can specify how you want your donation to be used.

If you are curious about some specific needs, here are suggestions:

  • Sponsor a child - scholarships enable deserving children, whose parents cannot afford our programs, to attend
  • Sponsor a horse - with a one-time donation or a regular monthly donation. Email updates on your horses progress in June, August and October and the opportunity to visit with them.
  • Equipment donations including tack-saddles, saddle pads, stirrups, bridles, bits, halters and lead ropes and reins for horses and ponies helps to ensure our equipment is safe for both horse and handler. Please only donate equipment in good, safe working order.
